Robert
on 'Wish'...
"I
felt the Wish album had a real note of finality-ending with a track called
"The End," he says of the band's last studio record, released
in 1992. "And then when that lineup fell apart, not so much when
Porl went, but when Boris left and then for a few days Simon was thinking
of going, too... I just thought this is how it's going to end, not with
a band but with a whimper." (Pulse Magazine,
May 1996)
"It
was the swan song of that particular line-up of The Cure, which had been
together for nearly a decade. And things like 'Show' - the live LP we
did just after 'Wish' - showed that group at the height of its powers.
Ultimately, when people started to leave, I could tell we were close to
that dangerous point where we knew what everyone would play or say, and
nothing would be said". (Cure News 20 - January 1999)
"When I look back at this one, I think the problem was that the songs
jump around too much" (Gaffa (Danish music magazine) Feb.2000)
