Lovesong
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever
I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far
away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever
I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far
away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you

Robert
on 'Lovesong'...
"That
one song, I think, hinges the whole 'Disintegration' album and makes
many people think twice. If that song wasn't on the record, it would
be very easy to dismiss the album as having a certain mood. But throwing
that one in sort of upsets people a bit because they think, 'This
doesn't fit.'
"It's taken me 10 years to reach the point where I feel comfortable
singing a very straightforward love song. In the past, I've always
felt a last-minute need to disguise the sentiments or put a twist
on them. It's actually one of the most difficult songs I've had to
sing.
"It's an open show of emotion. It's not trying to be clever.
And it's difficult to do because you run the risk of being laughed
at. I realised that while we were recording it." (Chicago
Tribune, 27th August 1989)
"I
gave Mary a tape of it for a wedding present. She went away to the
other room to listen to it, then smothered me with kisses. It's the
most upfront, true, frank and honest thing that I've ever sung. It's
about love, but also about the inability to ever really know someone."
(Select Magazine, August 1991)
"There are no stories, no muddled words of (un)explanation...
"lovesong" is simply a love song..." (September
1997) |
