Friday
I'm In Love
I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in love
Monday
you can fall apart
Tuesday Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love
Saturday
wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate...
I don't
care if Mondays black
Tuesday Wednesday heart attack
Thursday never looking back
It's Friday I'm in love
Monday
you can hold your head
Tuesday Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday watch the walls instead
It's Friday I'm in love
Saturday
wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate...
Dressed
up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday
I'm in love

Robert
on 'Friday I'm In Love'...
"'Friday
I'm in Love' is a dumb pop song, but it's quite excellent actually,
because it's so absurd. It's so out of character - very optimistic
and really out there in happy land. It's nice to get that counterbalance.
People think we're supposed to be leaders of some sort of 'gloom movement.'
I could sit and write gloomy songs all day long, but I just don't
see the point." (Taking The Cure , Spin , June 1992 , Mark Blackwell
& Jim Greer)
"It's a dumb pop song, plain and simple. It's not meant to be
taken seriously."
"It's really a lightweight song and definitely out of character
for us. It was only added as a counterbalance to some of the heavier,
more somber stuff like 'Trust' and 'The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea'."
(The Dark Side, Propaganda, 1992, Rene)
"Happiness".
(Cure News 14 - 1993)
"Written in 15 minutes one sunny Friday afternoon outside 'The
Boat Inn', Oxford, England 1992 in an attempt to encapsulate the delicious
feeling that is expectation..." (September 1997)
